Reminders

Have you accomplished all of your resolutions yet?  Haha

This week marks the first week of absolute chaos.  I am going to try my hardest this month to maintain mileage.  I was disappointed in myself for waiting until yesterday to get my run in.  I tried to get it in everyday this week, but the timing just didnt work out.

My friend and I decided we were going to meet at the gym last night to finally get moving.  She was stuck at work longer than I was, so I decided to get some extra cardio in.  When I started running, I was worried my legs were going to protest as per usual.  Mile 1 was one of the most comfortable miles I have run in a long time.  I was so motivated and decided I was going to push to 3.

Mile 2 was ok in the beginning.  I was pretty excited about my legs not cramping up in mile one, I noticed my form falling apart and my breathing was out of sync.  The girl next to me was doing intervals, but at my speed so I decided to keep up with her.  REMINDER 1: pump your arms.  I kept pushing my speed up on a 1% incline and the more I pumped my arms, the less my legs seemed to bother me.

Halfway through mile 2 I could tell how tired my body was (out of shape much?).  I kept bumping my speed up to test the waters and felt ok when the girl next to me jumped off her treadmill.  Dang.  I needed her because I was mirroring her form.

I hit mile 3 and felt like a million bucks.  I had to jump off because my friend arrived and we hit the weights and did 1.8 miles on the elliptical.  This workout reminded me (REMINDER 2) just how much I love running.  I love it so much, I am signing my friend and I up for the Cooper River Bridge Run in March!
I am so excited for this race because not only will it be my second 10k race, but its in the most magical place on Earth, Charleston, South Carolina.  I have said it a million times, GO if you can.

Come run this race with us!

On a nonrunning note, on NYE we were all talking about how we need to go skiing one day.  What pops in my email but a Groupon for a golf resort in North Carolina.  While I dont care much for golf, we googled it and saw this place was only 15 miles from the slopes.  DONE.  I bought the Groupon and am booking the hotel tomorrow.  I have never been skiing, but I am so pumped!  My friend and I are planning to have a girls day on the Friday we go before the boys get there, Saturday is dedicated to skiing, and Sunday we are going to visit Biltmore Estates.  Neither of us have been, so this will be a fun day trip
What an exciting first half of the year!

When will you be signing up for the Cooper Bridge Run??
