Happy week of Christmas!!!
Are you done with all of your shopping? I actually have one more person left and can you believe I know I want to get her running accessories, but I dont know what? Is that sad?
I am going to tell you, if you havent already noticed, I have been a bad blogger...commenting and posting. I am still in crazy transition into my new position at work and have barely had time to think, let alone eating during the day or you know, going to the bathroom. It will slow down...but I think after January.
I have another race to recap from this past weekend. I went into it saying it would only be for fun because of the race the week before. This weekend's race was the Virginia Highlands Christmas 5k. When you picked up your packet (a week ahead of time) you got a shirt and a free Santa Hat...SCORE! The race started at 9am (which I think I am a fan of since I dont have to wake up early). It was pretty chilly, but perfect running weather.
When I got to the race, I realized I forgot my Garmin. I wasnt too upset because I wasnt going to push myself on this race. When I got to the start, there were Santa hats everywhere. FUN! I wish I had someone to run this race with because it was very social.
I walked up to the start line and we started downhill. Not having the Garmin was sort of freeing. When I started, it wasnt too hard or spazzy as per usual. And then we ran. Downhill, uphill, downhill, uphill, uphill, holy crap uphill. By mile one I was feeling great. I started to pick up my pace a little bit, my breathing was perfect, there was no pain. Uphill, finally downhill, that was downhill?, uphill. WALL
I hit the wall at mile 1.5, in the middle of a crazy uphill. I watched everyone around me hit that same wall
This was us hitting the wall. The poor girl in front of my just pooped out. It was a tough course, but it was so much fun. It was a well organized race (except they ran out of water at the water stop) and I will run it again. I sort of wish I lived in the neighborhood we ran it because not only are the houses amazing (you need AT LEAST $350k just to move in(yes we are looking there but for much cheaper)) but it would be the perfect course to train on. Those hills will make you fast.
I saw my time, but I dont care. Im glad I was able to finish out the year with a fun run. I wont be able to race again until February.
How was your weekend?
Are you excited for the holidays? Do you have any plans?
