Design Disagreements

Happy Sweatpants Sunday (as Megan deemed it on Facebook)!  I am not going to lie, I still have my pajamas and glasses on.

As a couple, many of you know you have to make compromises.  A lot of compromises.  Right now, Matt and I arent quite seeing eye to eye on the direction of our apartment's design.  He likes stained furniture, I like painted.  He likes neutrals, I like color.  Obviously I dont want to introduce bright pinks and oranges, but some color here and there are nice.

If you follow my Home Decor page on Pinterest, that gives you an idea of my style.  I like soft, warm colors.  I like a room to look lived in and comfortable.  I also like beachy colors: light blue, tan, browns, whites, yellows.  Here is what our bedroom looks like right now.  Lets not judge the unfinished look to it right now...we did JUST move in.
Showing off my paint skilz.  Obviously not drawn to scale

As you can see its really bright (which I love) and very naked.  I like this furniture layout because its a little different from the "norm" (or how I think people with this room would place their furniture).  Matt doesnt like it.  See my challenges?  I think it looks too unfinished right now for him to see the end result

Another disagreement we are having is what to do with this piece I bought yesterday.
For the time being (or if I find actual nightstands) this will hold our tv.  The idea is to find something similar and use them as a nightstands.  I love it because its the perfect height and double the size of an average nightstand.  And it has cute working keyholes.
When I bought it, my mom and I were talking about the different ways to paint it.  Maybe white, maybe a pale color.  I decided I am going to stain it the same color as the top of the dresser (very very similar to what you see...a little richer).  No one really sees why I should restain it, but if you look closely it looks like someone tried to stain it, but did a poor job

Currently the knobs are a wooden stained knob.  I was thinking of classing it up a little with vintage glass knobs.  Something like this?

You get the idea.  Nothing crazy, just a subtle shine to it.  I dont think Matt agrees with me.  He thinks I should stain the wooden knobs currently on there the same color and call it a day.  What do you think?  Would you repaint the current knobs or would you buy new knobs?

Here is one thing we agree on: the headboard
I love the whole room actually.  Its so cozy.

So there are just a few of our disagreements.  What do you think?  I think at the end of the day, Matt doesnt really care about the planning of it all, he just wants a nice looking room.

HGTV, feel free to come to my house and help me.  I just want it finished!!!!  Genevieve, you know you want to!
